Why STEM?
Preparing For Life Beyond the Classroom
STEM Education uses the core focuses of science, technology, engineering, and math to engage students in learning. The creativity and problem solving skills that students learn in class, not only prepare them for continued learning, but also for life. Students are not taught what to think, but how to think. They are taught to ask why, and to search for solutions.
"We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers."
- Carl Sagan, American Astronomer
STEM As a way of life
Taking Ownership
The world is changing faster than ever before, and we want to equip our students with the tools to be successful. When our students find themselves in charge of finding answers instead of waiting on others' decisions or explanations - they are empowered to take ownership of their own learning and life.
We want our students to be able to think for themselves, solve problems on their own and understand that it's ok to fail. This involves our whole community and creating a culture where the philosophies of STEM are embedded in all areas of life. It's not about getting it right the first time - it's about trying again and continual learning.
